About the artist

Graham Gurr was born in Kent, England, on 1951, moving to Scotland five years later. At the age of sixteen, he left home and studied for a Certificate of Interior Design at the London College of Furniture, afterwards working in interior design and architectural practices for five years. Then he studied fine art and illustration at Sir John Cass School of Art, London, for two years and subsequently worked as an illustrator for three years. During this period he attended evening classes in LIfe Drawing at Goldsmith’s College, Univerity of London. In 1980, following an accident, he began directing his attention solely to fine art and has painted and drawn since then; graduating with a BA degree in Interior Design from Napier University and teaching Art and Design at a further education College in Scotland.

Graham Gurr has completed a number of private comissions, created murals for commercial interiors and exhibited in numerous group shows and several solo exhibitions. Nowadays, he lives permanently in Gozo, Malta, where he studied for a postgraduate Master of Research degree in Maltese Contemporary Art, and also became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
