Martin Taylor

Martin was born in Hitchin, England in 1948. Having always being interested in Art, he left his Engineering career and enrolled in a 2 year Art Foundation Course in Rugby. He then moved on to Northampton University where he studied Fine Art and obtained his BA in 2006.

Since 2004 Martin has lived between Rugby England and Mellieha, Malta.

Martin’s work is very varied but primarily centers on an attempt to get under the skin of a subject or issue. This is usually achieved by approaching work by abstraction and interpretation of reality.

Whilst working in Malta he has created a number of paintings that use mythical urban images to represent over-development. Other works are made with a desire to stimulate a response from the viewer. He believes that the response need not mirror the original vision of the artist but that to stimulate creative thought is often sufficient.
