Arthall Gallery in Victoria, Gozo, is preparing for next week quite an unusual, unique and extraordinary exhibition – The Hitchcock Collection – when eight artworks – lithographs, etchings, and pochoirs – by Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, and Marc Chagall, will be on display
The gallery explained that these highly coveted artworks embody a unique convergence of art and history. When art meets history, collectors become beacons of legacy – guardians of culture and vital links in a chain connecting past and future. Often described as “bulletproof,” such blue chip artworks retain their pedigree intact.
Arthall said it came into contact several years ago with Dr. George L. Mehren, Jr., the son of the late Ingeborg Mehren-Hitchcock, who owned an exceptional collection of Modern Art. Later in life – she lived to be 100 years old and was a gallerist herself, interested in particular pieces, outside the standard editions.
The opening night will be on Sunday, the 19th of April at 5 pm. For this occasion, attendance will be by reservation only by emailing arthallgozo@gmail.com
The gallery said that the artworks will be offered for sale, with prices available upon request. Dr. George L. Mehren, Jr. will be present at the gallery on the opening night.
The exhibition will remain open until Sunday, the 3rd of May.
Dr. George L. Mehren, Jr. is an acclaimed scholar and university lecturer as well as an international lawyer and economist with more than twenty-five years’ professional experience. He is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Maryland.
